Description

The Longues-sur-Mer marine coastal battery was built in September 1943 about 350 meters from the steep cliffs. The fire control centre is almost directly on the cliffs. The armament consisted of modern torpedo boat cannons from Skoda and had a calibre of 15.2 cm. Three of the guns are still preserved, the other one has been destroyed by the effects of the war. The guns were protected by steel shields, had a theoretical rate of fire of six rounds per minute and a range of 22,000 meters. The battery itself was protected by 2cm anti-aircraft guns, minefields and barbed wire.
