    Description

This is a certificate for 50 shares of Tobacco Products Corporation stock.  It was issued July 24, 1930 and it has been cancelled.  The document is 8 by 12 inches in size.  The certificate is beautifully engraved including a picture of two workers in a tobacco field.  Some have described this as a "slave era" picture.  I do not know if that is true or not, but slavery was abolished about 50 years before the Tobacco Products Corporation became a Virginia corporation in 1912.  So, while the picture might be older, I imagine, by 1912 and certainly by 1930, both black and white farm workers worked in the tobacco fields.  I know I did, in the 1950's, in my grandfather's tobacco field, on his farm in Southern Indiana.  So if this document has collector interest beyond those who collect stock certificates in general, I think the term "black memorabilia" is a more accurate representation rather than "slave era".  Thanks for looking.  I combine shipping to save you money if possible in the case of multiple purchases.  So, if you purchase or win more than one of my listings, let me know. Do not pay until I send you a revised combined invoice.  Thanks for looking and good luck.
