Vintage Edmund Scientific HeNe Laser w Modern Tube & Original Tube for Display

This is a vintage Edmund Scientific HeNe laser which has had its dead tube replaced with a modern hard-sealed 0.5 mW tube.  It is now fully functional producing a clean
red (633 nm)
beam. It is in fair cosmetic condition and does appear to have had a hard life.  Some TLC and detailing are definitely called for. The bedraggled line cord was also replaced and a fuse was installed as it didn't appear to have one originally
Here's your chance to own a real gas laser (not a laser pointer!) that is a piece of history.  These were among the earliest affordable gas lasers available - over 50 years ago!  In addition to being a collectable/display piece, it can be used for all sorts of laser and optics experiments since it works as well as a modern ,000 HeNe laser.  The beam from a HeNe laser is of much higher quality than a diode laser - TEM00 with a near perfect Gaussian profile.  At 0.5 mW, it is not entirely eye-safe, but staring into the beam with your remaining good eye is more likely to give you a neck cramp than cause any permanent damage. ;( ;-)
The package includes the laser ready to plug in and the original tube to admire its glass-work.  They don't make them like that anymore. ;-)
