VINTAGE Goldon Soloist WOOD RECORDER Baroque Style With Original Box. Condition is Used. Came from an older estate. Looks to be gently used with no cracks or scratches. Sounds beautiful. Cork still supple. Box shows some storage wear. Recorder covered in wax. Not sure if supposed to be or not. Preserver? Easily removed. Music dated 1954. Please see pictures for details.

A conscientious recorder player will coat their recorders in wax or linseed oil before placing them in long-term storage, so the instrument is not damaged by contraction and expansion of the wood from humidity and temperature changes. The wax can be removed with mineral spirits, which should not damage the finish. Stronger solvents are not recommended. The inside of a wooden recorder should always be oiled with almond oil or similar to prevent moisture damage. The fact that yours has been waxed suggests the previous owner was a musician who did not plan to use the recorder for some time.
Yours appears to be made of a fruitwood (cherry, plum, or pear) and varnish-stained a darker color. You can tell it is stained because of finish wear on the top of the mouthpiece and lighter color wood in the double hole. I am not familiar with the "Goldon" brand.
I can tell you it is a Tenor recorder in the key of C, based on its length. "Baroque style" refers to its fingering. Baroque fingering is most commonly used.
